Heat is the highest priority resource you will need to manage in Frostpunk 2. This ensures the citizens in your colony stay warm and continue doing the work they are assigned. It lets them live their lives peacefully without worrying about the cold or worse frostbite. However, to get more heat in Frostpunk 2 you need to accumulate a massive quantity of fuel so that you don’t run out from providing heat to the colony.

All Methods To Get Heat in Frostpunk 2

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Here are four methods to get more heat and keep your citizens warm in Frostpunk 2:

Coal Fuel Source

Oil Fuel Source

Gas Source

Heat Actuators

The first three sources are all the fuel types you can gather and add to your stockpile for constant heat supply to the colony. You can extract each one from unique sources such as Coal Mines, Oil Fields, and Gas Fields.

You need to establish extraction zones to collect these three resources and use them to get more heat in Frostpunk 2. There are a lot of research opportunities that will allow you to build additional structures in the extraction district. This will increase the yield of fuel sources per week.

Consider researching Pumpjacks for Oil, Coal Liquefaction for Coal, and Geothermal Plants for Gas. Installing these buildings, based on the sources available for extraction will increase the quantity you accrue over time.

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

The fourth method, Heat Actuator, is basically a heating hub that you can install in your districts. It consumes materials as a source and provides heat to the tiles where you install them in a district. Building the Heat Actuator hubs inside the districts ensures that you meet the heat demand. Additionally, the generator burns less fuel during the demanding days.

However, you must be mindful of your Materials supply as it will be consumed faster if you install a lot of Heat Actuator devices throughout your colony.

Why Do You Need More Heat?

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

As the days become colder or warmer, the colony’s heat demand will increase and decrease. During the cold days, there will be more heat demand compared to the warmer days. The generator burns more fuel to fill the supply and demand gap during the colder days, and it consumes a massive quantity of fuel to give heat during the Whiteouts.

Preparation is the key to survival in Frostpunk 2 and therefore overlooking the fuel management will likely be the end of your days as Steward. Having multiple fuel sources ensures you have a backup source to burn in case one of the three fuel sources has run out.

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Even if you have all three fuel sources that I have mentioned above, you still need to upgrade the generator so that it can produce more heat by burning the same quantity of fuel. Without the upgrades, you will need to rely on the Heat Actuator to meet the heat demand.

Therefore, it is a highly desired step for survival to always gather more fuel resources so that you get more heat during the cold harsh days in Frostpunk 2.

That is everything you need to know about how to get more heat in Frostpunk 2.

In Frostpunk 2, resources are the currency of survival, and managing them from the start is crucial. Your workforce, fuel, heatstamps, and food are all vital, and stockpiling them is essential since it’s only a matter of time before supplies run out. When resources dwindle, Crime and Squalor rise, trust falls, and you risk getting kicked out of the colony. To prevent this, I’ve detailed how to get infinite resources in Frostpunk 2 in this guide.

All Settlement Types For Infinite Resources

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

By establishing settlements in Frostpunk 2, you can potentially get infinite amounts of the following resources:

Coal settlement

Oil settlement

Heatstamps settlement

Research settlement

Fortitude Base

Materials Settlement

NOTE: I haven’t found Prefabs and Goods stations so far after playing Frostpunk 2 for nearly 50 hours. However, since both of these can be produced by consuming Materials and Heat in an Industrial District, it is my understanding that these two resources do not have settlements to give infinite quantity.

How To Unlock Settlements and Get Infinite Resources

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

To unlock settlements, you will need to first research the idea called “Settlement Heating” in the Heating section of the Idea Tree. If you are playing the Story mode then this option will be locked out until you reach a point where you get to pick one of the following:

Embrace Frost

Defeat The Frost

You will unlock the Settlements research when you select the ‘Embrace Frost” option. Once this is unlocked, research this idea and after that whenever your Frostland teams discover a resource station, you will get the option of turning it into a permanent settlement for infinite resources in Frostpunk 2.

As a reminder you should have at least 2 Logistics Districts in place at your base so that you have enough Frostland Teams to assign for settlements. You can always increase the Frostland teams by researching and establishing “Vanguard Logistics Bay“, which gives you 20 Frostland Teams per Logistics District.

Settlement Upgrades For More Infinite Resources Per Week

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Of course, everything comes at a cost in the game, and establishing a settlement is no different. Typically you will reserve the following for an infinite supply of a particular resource:

5 Frostland Teams

A few sources such as Materials, Oil, Food, and Goods [Requirement vary per source type]

Once a settlement is established, you can potentially start getting an infinite amount of that resource. You can also upgrade that settlement to increase the quantity of resources received per week.

You can check if you meet all the requirements to upgrade the station by hovering over the ‘Upgrade Settlement’ option. Increasing your infinite supply per week is highly recommended for the longer survival of the colony.

That is everything you need to know about how to get infinite resources in Frostpunk 2.

Materials are an important resource that helps you control Squalor and Crime by providing citizens with the necessary items they need. Lack of Materials will decrease trust and if you continue to fail in providing this resource to the citizens, the people will throw you out of the colony. That is why in this guide I have listed the four best ways to get Materials in Frostpunk 2 and keep your citizens happy.

What Are Materials in Frostpunk 2

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

You can use Materials to maintain buildings and different types of districts in Frostpunk 2. Without a decent supply of Materials, the harsh weather will deteriorate the condition of buildings and the Squalor status effect will increase over time.

Materials can also be used by the Heating Hubs to generate heat. You can install these in the districts and keep nearby houses, industrial, or extraction zones hot. If you have the Materials in surplus quantity, you can reserve coal or oil by reducing the generator output. This will also provide heating to citizens using the Heating Hubs.

Materials are also used to produce Goods in the Industrial District. Lack of Materials not only will increase Squalor but you won’t be able to produce Goods also, which in turn increase Crime in your colony.

How To Get More Materials

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

There are a handful of ways to get Materials and setting up an Extraction District over a wood or iron deposit will start producing this resource for your colony.

The more deposits or Extraction Districts you set up, the faster the production. However, there are a few buildings that you can establish in the Extraction District to get more Materials in Frostpunk 2 efficiently.

While the Extraction District can get you Materials in the early game.

The brutal, harsh, cold, and unforgiving world of Frostpunk returns in the sequel with citizens, politics, and the dividing factions within a colony playing a much bigger role. Frostpunk 2 gives you a world so empty that even if you are within your colony, you cannot rely on the people as every man is for himself. In this Frostpunk 2 review, I have broken down the good, the bad, and the best parts you can expect from the game.

The Resource Gathering Returns

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

The resource gathering from various deposits and making one resource by burning another was one of the major highlights of the original Frostpunk. This feature has returned in Frostpunk albeit with a little twist.

You no longer have individual buildings to set up over deposits for extraction. Instead, the buildings are bundled up into district types with a defined role for them to perform.

You have Housing, Industrial, Extraction, Food, and Logistics Districts each performing tasks bound to their names. While Housing, Food, and Extraction Districts perform the basic tasks of providing shelter, giving something to eat, and collecting resources from deposits, the Industrial and Logistics may need a little explaining.

You now have Goods and Materials, two of the most important resources to keep an eye out for in Frostpunk 2 to keep the citizens happy. The Industrial districts provide Goods or Prefabs by using Materials collected from Extraction Districts.

If you fail to meet the demand for Goods and Materials, the Squalor and Crime will rise and you will be thrown out of the colony if this persists for a long time.

While on the surface the resource gathering may seem like the first game, it is no longer exactly the same in Frostpunk 2.

Specialized Buildings Are Double-Edged Swords

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

While each of the five Districts has a fixed duty to perform, there are specialized buildings you can construct inside these Districts to speed up a process and keep citizens happy or increase Tension and reduce Trust.

Specialized buildings are double-edged swords that on one side give you what you want from that building but on the other side raise Squalor or Crime and in the worst cases reduce Trust.

Buildings like Mechanisd Sawmills, Dust Coal Mines, Mechanical Factories, Chemical Hothouses, and others are designed to speed up the production of crucial resources but they also cause a wide variety of problems that result in conflicts of interests between the factions.

But who wouldn’t get uncomfortable with the idea of Chemical Hothouses injecting chemical nutrients into the crops for accelerated growth? I know I would. Then again, this is you who needs to do what it takes to increase the survival of your colony in the unforgiving weather that freezes your blood and chills your bones until they break.

Factions, Choices & Repercussions

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Each faction has a voice, stance, style, and a peculiar way of how things should unfold in the colony. By default, you get three or four factions as you play the story mode. However, sometimes the laws you pass, the tough choices you make, and the priorities you set towards a faction force citizens to withdraw their original belief and form a new opinion.

This creates a rift and you constantly juggle between passing laws that favor one faction and researching new ideas that align with the beliefs of another.

For example, the Pilgrims have an excellent knowledge of Frostland and always push the stance of adapting and embracing the frost. On the other hand, the New Londoners push for technological progress and automation and rely more on machines than people.

While your decisions may not be favorable to all factions, there are still some ways where you can keep everyone happy. You get options like ‘Fund Projects’, ‘Make Promise’, ‘Grant Agenda’, and sometimes publicly announcing your support for a faction. This reduces the divide between the people of your colony and helps them avoid cutting each other’s throats.

Council Hall, the Beating Heart of Politics in Your Colony

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

The Council Hall is the place where each faction presents their beliefs to the table, and pushes to pass a certain research that aligns with their belief system. In every law you pass or reject, a certain level of politics is involved that allows you to see the outcomes beforehand so you can make an informed decision.

For example, a certain faction will push for the idea of sending the younger population to schools so they can study, contribute to research, and reduce the Crime rate. While this is definitely a good suggestion, another faction demands that the colony needs as many hands on deck as possible and an apprenticeship is a better way to control the younger population.

While both ideas seem sound and favorable to the colony, the direction you take will solidify your narrative for each faction. At least one faction will get the most out of a law being passed while others will show resentment over it, decreasing Trust in their ‘Steward’.

While you gain a positive image most of the time you pass a law, sometimes you need to negotiate with the delegates of other factions, make promises, and bring them on the same page as you to reject a certain law. This helps you align yourself with the belief system of a certain faction while not tainting your image with the other faction for rejecting their law.

Heat Management, the Elephant in the Room

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

While 11 bit Studios have created a beautiful yet brutal world of Frostpunk 2 that will keep you distracted in factions, resource gathering, and politics the Heat management is the elephant in the room and you should start taking this seriously from the get-go.

Even if you have managed to keep people happy with your charm, and politics and provided them with every resource they need, you will still fail in becoming their ‘Steward’ if you cannot maintain the Heat levels, especially during the Whiteout.

‘Whiteout’ is the curse word that every citizen in your colony knows and feels the chills just by thinking about it. In Frostpunk 2, the whiteout is a series of events that lasts a few weeks where you will be bombarded the extreme cold weather possible.

Coal and Oil are the best sources to generate heat and keep your citizens warm during lower temperatures. While these are known methods that can give you a decent supply of heat for a long time, sometimes you need to look for other resources too such as Geothermal Plants, and be prepared for the worst.

In any case, you must always be prepared and have enough Oil or Coal surplus so that you can meet the demand. Heat demand increases significantly during lower temperatures and relaxes during higher temperatures.

I have wiped at least 10 runs of story mode by overseeing the Heat management in Frostpunk 2 and learned the lesson the hard way. So don’t make the same mistake as I did.

The Only Bad

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

I got to play the pre-release copy of Frostpunk 2 and played it for more than 25 hours. During my time I saw multiple scenarios unfold in the story mode where sometimes you completely abandon Winterhome and search for other ideas for survival and in others you try to take the resources from Winterhome or clear toxins from the place to make it inhabitable.

I could never win against the Whiteouts in any of the scenarios I played in Frostpunk 2. The game feels harder than the original title, and I believe this could potentially frustrate a lot of players, especially the newcomers.

Returning players may love the extra challenge in Frostpunk 2 but then again I played the original title on Survivor mode, the hardest difficulty, and still managed to complete it. For some reason, the difficult spike in the sequel is tough to handle and that is the only downside I have found in the game so far.

Verdict

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

As a player coming from the original Frostpunk, I had a soft corner for Frostpunk 2 and I knew in my instincts that 11 bit Studios would deliver another successful game. However, I am 100 percent satisfied with the level of effort, energy, and love the studio has put into making this game.

Frostpunk 2 is easily one of the best Simulation and Strategy genre video games that stands at a 9/10 score for me.

This was my review for the Frostpunk 2 and I believe you get the complete picture now and understand at some level what to expect from the game.

If you’re starting the game, I recommend reading up on our Frostpunk 2 guides to get more materials and more goods. A lack of Goods will cause all sorts of problems as you will have injuries and deaths in the colony as people fight over it. That is why in this guide I have mentioned the three best ways for you to know about how to get Goods in Frostpunk 2.

What are Goods in Frostpunk 2

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Goods are one of the resources you provide for your citizens in Frostpunk 2. While this process may work for you at the start, a growing population will increase the Goods demand and therefore you need to speed up the production.

Best Buildings to Get More Goods

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

There are a handful of buildings that once you research from Idea Tree, can be installed over Industrial Districts. Keep in mind that the following buildings that I have listed here can only be placed over Industrial Districts if you have expanded them.

An expansion can be done by clicking an Industrial District and selecting the expansion icon. You can expand a District only 2 times and if you need to install more of the buildings I have listed below, then construct more Industrial Districts.

1. Mechanical Factory

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

The first building you need to get can be found in the Idea Tree under the ‘Factories’ of the ‘Resources’ section. Once you have researched and built this building in your colony, you will produce 40 Goods or 10 Prefabs at the cost of 60 Materials.

Since the citizens in your colony will need a lot of Goods, it is best if you establish this building very early in Frostpunk 2 to get more goods faster over time.

You will need to meet the following requirements to build a mechanical factory:

300 Workforce

180 Heatstamps

90 Prefabs

Expanded Industrial District

2. Refurbishing Goods Factory

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

For a small population and in the early game, the Mechanical Factory building will produce a decent amount of Goods in the game. However, as your colony grows, you will need better and faster ways to produce goods per week in Frostpunk 2.

The Refurbishing Goods Factory found in the Idea Tree under the ‘Goods Factories’ of the ‘Resources’ section is the second best upgrade you can make to get more Goods faster in Frostpunk 2.

The best part of establishing this building is that it only requires 10 Heat, and 30 Materials to function and produce Goods. This is a much better upgrade, and you can install it in your colony and produce 60 Goods.

To build a Refurbishing Goods Factory, you will need to have the following:

400 Workforce

350 Heatstamps

180 Prefabs

1 Core

1 Empty building slot in an Industrial District

3. From Frostland

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

The above two methods are the best when it comes to getting Goods in Frostpunk 2. However, as you unlock Frostland exploration, you will come across useful resources such as Materials.

If you find Materials in the Frostland, build more Industrial Districts and use the excessive Materials from Frostland and to make Goods. The surplus quantity of Goods will help you save these for the rough days, especially during the Whiteout.

That is everything you need to know about how to get Goods in Frostpunk 2. I also recommend that you check out how to reduce Squalor in the game.

Crime in Frostpunk 2 is one of the status effects that negatively impacts population growth and causes civil unrest among citizens of your colony. As you try to survive in the brutal and cold world, you need to provide for the people who look up to you. Therefore, to grow a sustainable colony, I have mentioned the three best ways to reduce Crime in Frostpunk 2 in this guide.

What is Crime In Frostpunk 2 & How to Reduce it

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Crime is the civil unrest you get in your colony in Frostpunk 2. The more population you have, the more difficult it gets to provide for them and control the troublemakers.

Lack of ‘Goods’ or complete depletion of its stocks increases Crime in Frostpunk 2. You can always install Industrial Districts and select ‘Goods’ as the production resource to keep an ample supply of Goods. However, with increasing population, you will see a surge in Goods demand as well.

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Increasing Crime stat causes population reduction and raises the ‘Tension’ stat as well – both damage the overall colony in the game.

If you keep the Crime stat unchecked and at an alarming rate, it will also result in injuries and deaths due to frequent fights inside the colony. Therefore, you must explore these three best ways to reduce Crime in Frostpunk 2.

1. Surveillance Watchtower

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Researching the ‘Surveillance Watchtower’ from the ‘Society’ section of the Idea Tree is the first step you should take in controlling the increasing Crime in your colony of Frostpunk 2. Crime will increase if you have not installed any building to reduce it and the Watch Towers are a great start to eliminate Crime.

A Surveillance Watchtower can be constructed in the Housing District and you will first need to expand a Housing District so that it supports a building slot. You will need to meet the following requirements to install a Surveillance Watchtower:

100 Workforce

80 Heatstamps

40 Prefabs

Once the Surveillance Watchtower is installed, Crime will be controlled passively. However, you also get ‘Random Searches’ District Ability, and using it decreases Crime but will increase Tension among citizens.

Installing each Surveillance Watchtower gives you 12 guards in the colony in Frostpunk 2. Sometimes you will be threatened by people outside your colony and the guards not only help you control the Crime inside but also unlock brute force options to eliminate threats from the outside.

2. Isolation Prison

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Once you have researched the Surveillance Watchtower from the Idea Tree, you will unlock the ‘Prisons’ tree. Inside this, you will find the Isolation Prison to be the best option for reducing Crime in Frostpunk 2.

Once this building is installed in a Housing District, you add 500 capacity for Detainees per Isolation Prison. This greatly helps in controlling Crime and ensuring that it does not increase rapidly regardless of running short on Goods.

To construct an Isolation Prison, you will need to meet the following requirements:

400 Workforce

240 Heatstamps

140 Prefabs

3. Dutiful Youth

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Crime starts increasing when you are low on Goods or have depleted this resource completely. Over time, you will get the indication of civil unrest among citizens and it is the youth that will start the first acts of Crime in your colony.

However, by researching the ‘Dutiful Youth’ found inside the ‘Youth’ Idea Tree under the ‘Society’ section you can reduce Crime in Frostpunk 2. You will unlock the ‘Youth Volunteer Duty’ City Ability by researching this idea.

Besides reducing Crime, the Dutifuly Youth also increases the percentage of workers thanks to the young adults working in volunteering activities under the supervision of their elders. However, with all the advantages you get from this research idea, the overall Trust stat will decrease over time.

You can also research the ‘Parenthood’ skill tree, which unlocks after ‘Dutiful Youth’ to further reduce the Crime in Frostpunk 2. However, this one negatively impacts the overall population growth that you need over time to sustain the colony.

That is everything you need to know about how to reduce Crime in the game.

Frostpunk 2 expands on the original by focusing not only on resource management but also on the well-being of your citizens. The preferences of different factions now play a crucial role in managing your resources and growing the colony, and one key challenge is to control the “Squalor” status effect. In this guide, I have mentioned the best ways to reduce Squalor in Frostpunk 2.

What is Squalor In Frostpunk 2 & How Does it Increase?

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

Squalor is one of the key indicators in Frostpunk 2 that increases the Disease and Tension status effects of your citizens. The higher the Squalor, the more you’re likely to see citizens getting sick or Districts getting malfunctions.

For a growing city, you must keep the Squalor at a minimum level or absent. The main reason Squalor increases is because you install generator facilities, and production houses like the following:

Chemical Hothouses

Actuated Heat Dispatcher

Mechanical Factory

Deep Melting Drill

There are more technological upgrades that do help you speed up the production. However, they also increase Squalor as your citizens endure polluted air and overwhelming dirt and filth.

Squalor will also rise when you are short or have no supply of Materials. This results in increasing Squalor over time.

How To Reduce Squalor

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

There are many technology upgrades you can research from Idea Tree in Frostpunk 2, that will significantly reduce Squalor. Installing multiple of these buildings will turn the Squalor status effect to ‘Absent’.

Here are two best buildings in Frostpunk 2 you should research and install to reduce Squalor.

1. Moss-Filtration Tower

Source: 11 bit studios via Gamepur

The Moss-Filtration Tower can be found in the ‘Resources’ section of the Idea Tree. You will find this as one of the two options inside the ‘Filtration Towers’ tree, the other option being ‘Ventilation Towers’

Once you have research the Moss-Filtration Tower, you will need to place these in the ‘Housing Districts’. Keep in mind that you will need to expand a Housing District at least one time for it to support a Building Slot. This can be done by clicking a Housing District and selecting the last option, which costs 50 Heatstamps and 50 Prefabs.

The Moss-Filtration Tower unlocks the ‘Rapid Filtration’ District Ability, which significantly decreases Squalor. You should also know that you will need to have at least 400 Workforce for the building to work.

The construction cost for the Moss-Filtration Tower is:

400 Workforce

100 Heatstamps

50 Prefabs

2. You can find it in the ‘Resources’ section of the Idea Tree inside the ‘Waste Management Facilities’ option.

The construction requirements for the Waste Repurposing Facility are the following:

400 Workforce

200 Heatstamps

100 Prefab

1 Core

The Waste Repurposing Facility can be installed over the Industrial District. So, keep in mind that you will need to first expand an Industrial District so that it can support a building slot.

That is everything you need to know about how to reduce Squalor in Frostpunk 2. We are still playing the game and discovering more ways to control, reduce, and eliminate Squalor, but for now, these two methods are the best for achieving said goal.

If you’re enjoying the game, I recommend checking out how to reduce Crime and get more goods in Frostpunk 2.

While each weapon has unique physical damage and elemental buildup stats, not all weapons perform the same. That is why I have listed 5 best weapons in Enotria: The Last Song after playing the game for more than 20+ hours.

5. Colossal Pincer

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

Damage

Stats

Physical

297

Ardore

132

Unraveling

350

Vis

216

Fatuo

139

Gratia

139

Malanno

139

Dizzy

246

Wicked

246

Radiant

246

Sick

246

Base Stats of Colossal Pincer

How To Get: To get the Colossal Pincer in Enotria: The Last Song, you will need to defeat Gran Paguro of Sands in the Falesia Magnia region.

All Greatswords are easily the best weapons in Enotria: The Last Song as they do massive damage per hit but they are super slow. Trading speed for damage is a risky business in the game but if you know the attack windows of enemies, elites, and bosses, you can maximize the damage per second using these weapons.

There is no better Greatsword in Enotria: The Last Song than the Colossal Pincer. This is a boss weapon that does massive physical and Unraveling damage on a target.

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

Since switching loadouts can be done on the fly, you can use the Colossal Pincer as the primary weapon for a damage build or reserve it for dealing with Unraveling Damage only in the game

4. Each Mask comes with a few buffs and gives you an advantage if you meet certain conditions. While you can use any mask to create a build better suited to its stats, in this guide I have listed 5 best masks in Enotria: The Last Song that you should not sleep on.

5. Mask of Change

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

How To Get: To get Mask of Change, defeat the ‘Force of Change’ boss after the tutorial section in Enotria: The Last Song.

Mask of Change is the best starter mask in Enotria: The Last Song and can easily carry you through the mid-game.

You get increased heavy attack weapon damage by wearing or using this mask. This is especially devastating on enemies when you unleash heavy attacks using a Greatsword.

Additionally, your character gets increased Physical Power while in the Awakened state. You enter the ‘Awakened’ state by performing a finisher move on an enemy or a boss, which is achieved by filling up the Unraveling meter (stance meter as seen in blue color near the health bar).

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

4. This is great when you are using ranged projectile abilities that scale with Elemantalist stat.

3. Every time you beat them, you can receive the Fisherman mask fragment. When you have collected enough fragments, you will unlock the Fisherman’s Mask in Enotria: The Last Song.

Finishing blows tend to eliminate opponents quickly. While most masks increase your Physical or Ardore Power, the Fisherman’s Mask in Enotria: The Last Song increases the damage you deal using finishing blows.

However, to get the damage buff on finishing blows, you will also need to equip just one weapon with this loadout. Otherwise, this buff will not trigger.

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

Secondly, while in the Awakened state, your Physical Power is also increased while wearing the Fisherman’s Mask in Enotria: The Last Song.

2. You meet this NPC when you reach the first Reality Knot in the Falesia Magnia region. After that, you meet Custone again near the Coliseum where you fight Giangurgolo. After defeating Giangurgolo, go back to the nearest shrine, where you will find Custode standing near the tree, wear the Giangurgolo mask, and interact with the NPC. This will complete the questline and you will get the Zealot’s Mask in Enotria: The Last Song.

There are many build possibilities in Enotria: The Last Song including a glass cannon build. The Zealot’s Mask is easily the best mask if you want to deal as much damage as possible at lower health.

One of the first effects of this mask is that you get increased Physical Power if your health is below a certain threshold. This effect allows you to not fill up your health and continue hitting the enemy or a boss harder with an increased damage buff.

The second effect of Zealot’s Mask is that you will not die but will be left at 1HP during the Awakened state. Do note that this effect does not remain active all the time and you must be in the Awakened state to get the benefit.

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

1. This is a story boss that you cannot miss and can be found in the Theatre area.

Since Enotria: The Last Song does not have shields to block damage and you heavily rely on dodge and parry, it is easy to get hit and run out of Armonia Amber charges. Luckily, the Guise of Zanni Mask helps you a lot on that front.

Guise of Zanni Mask is by far the best mask in Enotria: The Last Song. By wearing this mask, you get an increased amount of Armonia Amber charges. This helps you stay in the fight against bosses longer and your chances of coming out victorious from the arena become high.

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

The extra Armonia Amber charges also help you while exploration as you are bound to run into a lot of enemies and before you reach the next Reality Knot, you can die due to insufficient health.

Additionally, the ‘Grand Celebration’ mask line, arguably one of the best mask lines in Enotria: The Last Song, can only be equipped if you are wearing the Guise of Zanni mask.

Using this mask line allows you to conjure a big hammer and crush your target. The animation takes more time than most mask lines but the damage dealt is very high – which makes equipping this mask line while wearing the Guise of Zanni an absolute necessity.

That is everything about the best masks and how to get them in Enotria: The Last Song.

Enotria: The Last Song has a big beautiful and brutal world. You, the maskless one, start with the basic weapon and pretty much nothing and have to work your way to the top of the food chain by defeating bosses, exploring the expansive world of the game, and collecting hidden loot. This review aims to give you a clear picture of what is Enotria: The Last Song and what can you expect by playing the game.

Switch Masks (Loadouts) on the Fly

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

Masks are the core feature of Enotria: The Last Song. You get these mainly by defeating story bosses and after that, you can configure their Mask Role, equipment, and a few Mask Lines in the loadout menu.

Once you have customized three loadouts, you can switch to each one on the fly as you explore the land in search of hidden treasures or while soaking your blade in bleeding out the bosses.

While most soulslike games do not give you the option to entirely switch a playstyle with one click of a button as you explore the land, this concept in Enotria: The Last Song feels fresh and welcoming. After all, you face a wide variety of enemies, each requiring a unique strategy to beat them.

For example, elite enemies hit hard, and wield a large-sized weapon that crushes you down with each blow. To fight these brutes effectively, you must have a weapon like a polearm that can help you maintain distance and attack from a range. Having a loadout that carries a polearm will instantly allow you to switch and beat the elite enemy effectively instead of having to beat it using a sword.

Most bosses become aggressive as you bleed them down to 50% health. They change the attack patterns and in most cases completely change the approach of how you could approach them. Luckily, with the three loadouts available to you to switch on the fly, tackling these bosses should not be a problem.

Status Effects are Mostly Positive

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

Status effects are one of the many core features in soulslike games where your character gets certain debuff once inflicted by a certain infliction. However, that is not the case in Enotria: The Last Song.

In this game, status effects act like a double-edged sword. These only impact you negatively if you are hit by enemies. If you are a master of parrying or dodging the enemy hits and continue to strike them back, you will notice the positive side of the status effects

For example, Dizzy is one of the many status effects you will be introduced to in the early game of Enotria: The Last Song. This status effect increases your damage when striking an enemy. However, you will also take double damage if the enemy hits you.

Another status effect is sipping the health bar. If you successfully strike an enemy without getting hit during the status effect time, you will feed on the enemy’s health. On the other hand, if the enemy or a boss such as Vermiglio, hits you as you are under this status effect, they will steal your life and replenish their health back per hit.

Parry is Optional But Feels Forced Sometimes

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

While games like Sekiro and Bloodborne are notorious for not giving you shields to soak some damage and leave you at the mercy of dodging or parrying incoming attacks, you will find the same forced nature in Enotria: The Last Song.

The combat in the game is not super fast like Sekiro nor fluid and smooth like Bloodborne. Your per-hit damage feels like a puppy hitting a wall – negligible damage at its best. And that is not the only worst part of the combat.

During combat each attack you land on an enemy or a boss builds the Unraveling meter, once it peaks, the target’s stance will break and will be open to take the finishing attack. This attack deals massive damage and is probably the only way you will need to rely on while defeating elite enemies and bosses to progress the game’s story.

Parry, which most Souls games give you as an optional mechanic feels forced in Enotria: The Last Song. If you do not parry, you will need to dodge and then attack – which takes forever while beating a boss.

While I am good at Souls games and learn the mechanics fast, not everybody is accustomed to this genre. This makes reacting to split-second attacks of bosses for parrying an impossible tasks. If you are someone who considers themselves bad at this, then you will hate Enotria: The Last Song for forcing you to parry your way to victory.

If not, then you will love this mechanic and will try to become a parry god and give bosses a beatdown.

Mask Lines Abilities Keep Combat Fresh & Unique

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

Mask Lines are the weapon arts that you can equip in the loadout, except these do not get tied to any weapon and can be used anytime after these are charged.

You get some of the powerful Mask Lines by defeating the Story and optional bosses. However, there are a few Mask Lines tucked away in the hidden treasure chests that are not easily obtained and usually require you to go the extra mile while searching for them.

Every time you strike an enemy or a boss, each Mask Line meter starts gaining. Once the meter is full, you can unleash that particular attack and unleash the full might of your character for a short duration on a target.

Some enemies do not take physical damage and to strike them effectively, you will need to deal Fatuo damage to them, which is mostly applied by hitting them with Mask Lines.

Each loadout can have one Mask Line at a time so running with three loadouts basically gives you the freedom of carrying 12 Mask Lines at a time. This freedom in combat adds unpredictability as you do not know how an enemy will react to your attacks but you can soon find out by experimenting with new Mask Lines on them.

The only downside of using Mask Lines is that you will need to wait for the animation to complete. These special attacks have a little longer animation than your standard light and heavy attacks.

Beautiful World Paired With Italian Music is Immersive

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

While combat is the core feature of Enotria: The Last Song, the beautiful world and the amazing Italian music keep the boss fights interesting. Boss fights such as one with Vermiglio have a dark and grim design but that is not the case with most battles you fight in the game.

I particularly can’t shake off the music I heard as I tried to beat Curtis, Prince of Laughter boss in the game. While defeating this boss is not an easy task, maintaining focus is not that easy too thanks to the amazing boss fight music you hear as you enter the boss arena.

As I tried to focus more on landing perfect parries during this boss fight, the music made me want to listen more, extend the boss fight, and not finish it quickly.

I have played my fair share of soulslike games and landing a good boss fight music is one of the criteria you need to do right. Luckily, Enotria: The Last Song ticks this box brilliantly.

Weapons, Weapons, And A Lot of Weapons

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

Soulslike games are good at giving you a lot of weapons to pick and project your play style for the rest of the run or change it up in the NG+. Luckily, Enotria: The Last Song gives you a lot of weapons to find the one that suits you.

You get weapons by defeating bosses and elite enemies. Sometimes, you can find special weapons by opening the treasure chests. During my first five hours of playtime, I had nearly 20 weapons in my inventory and I could not decide which one should I run with.

It was not until the Vermiglio boss fight that I realized that polearms are slightly better than swords and these might just fit the playstyle I need while playing Enotria: The Last Song.

You get regular swords, polearms, greatswords, and other blunt weapons in the game. While you may be good with the swords in other soulslike games, it is not necessary you find yourself comfortable this time around while playing Enotria: The Last Song. Therefore, I encourage you to experiment and find the one that suits you best.

Review Verdict For Enotria: The Last Song

Source: Jyamma Games via Gamepur

While there are a few not-so-good things about Enotria: The Last Song, I can conclude my review that this is still a fun game that deserves attention. The world setting, combat, boss designs, and how the overall narrative folds feel fresh when it comes to playing another game that is based on a soulslike formula.

After playing the game for nearly 18 hours and about to reach the end of it, I am confident Enotria: The Last Song is easily a 7/10 game that you should not miss playing, especially if you like soulslike video games.

If you’re about to start Enotria the Last Song, I highly recommend checking out our beginner’s guide and best settings guide for it.
